Mission Trip- Day 2 (continued)

After the bus was fixed, we headed out for day two. Due to the delay, we did not get to do clinics this day, but went straight into a shortened baseball clinic and then game. This was done in a city called San Jose de Ocoa (Ocoa for short). This was by far the most well off city we visited. Because we missed the dental clinic, Gary (the missionary) canceled the scheduled city for the next day and we stayed in Ocoa this night and the next (so, day 2 and day 3). Dr. Kennedy is good friends with a man by the name of Fernando Isa and he is from Ocoa. Fernando's family is successful and still has a "summer house" in Ocoa and some of his family works with a foundation that provides services and help to the people in Ocoa. Because of Jason's connection to the Isa's, Gary felt it necessary to cancel the next day and still be able to provide dental care to the people there. Incidentally, Gary and his family haven't yet been able to start a church in Ocoa. They hadn't yet been trusted by the people of the area and we are hopeful that our being there, doing the work we were able to do, will be part of the bridge to a new relationship between the missionaries and the people there. These people were very friendly, very welcoming. We got there just in time for the baseball clinic (during which Dr. Kennedy shared the gospel) and then the men/boys played the locals in a game. And by played, I mean got whipped. It was quite funny because the men of the Ocoa showed up decked out in full baseball gear. They meant business. Our poor guys never had a chance, but they gave a good effort! Bay was brave enough to play too and made the most genius play of the game by bunting the ball....because obviously he's not big enough to hit against men! Ha! Anyway, I didn't have any responsibilities this day except to take pictures and cheer on my boys. The first picture is Bay and I waiting to leave the mission house (for the 2nd time that day!), and the second picture is what we saw when we arrived in Ocoa.....the little league guys ready to learn! The third picture is the visitor's dug out. I'll post several pics of the field. It wasn't in good shape, but it was a field and it sat at the bottom of some of the prettiest scenery I have ever seen.
