Addie's First Meet Pics

Bay's 1st Game Pics

Weekend of Firsts!

(He's number 3.....in the middle above)

Well, it's been a very busy weekend! I realize it's only Saturday, but momma is exhausted! So tomorrow we will go to church and then sleep the day away :). Both boys had their first football games and Addie had her first gymnastics meet! A momma could not be more proud of her babies and I have to say it is so much fun watching them tackle that fear of trying for the first time. The boys are becoming such Warriors and Addie is stronger and braver than I could ever hope to be. It's funny though, with 3 children in activities we faced the unthinkable this weekend...2 first time events at the same time. A part of me feels so guilty for missing the one (Asher's first football game) and the other part of me knows I can't be two places at the same time! Thank you Papaw for taking care of Asher and sitting through an hour game to watch him be in the game for 3 plays. UGH! Oh, but there is joy! It was worth it for Papaw! He reports that Asher spent most of his time on the sideline turned around backwards. No! He didn't watch his team play. He was too busy watching the cheerleaders. Ah hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Of course he was!!!!!!!! I think I can safely say that this will be Asher's first and last year of football :). I'm posting some pics of Asher too here....they are from his scrimmage this past week!

First Football Scrimmages

Bay running the football (number 15)
Asher's 7 year old team!
Bay running the football (number 15)

Asher geared up!

The boys had their first football scrimmages last week. Bay's team scrimmaged Catholic and Asher's team was a part of a jamboree with other 7 year old teams. We managed to get a couple of pics of the action! It's looking like this may be our only year of football, but, of course, that could change as the season goes on. Momma still doesn't like all the pads and hitting......

(FYI.....I can't figure out blogger dashboard. It won't let me move pictures around and it won't let me post words before pictures. Sorry everything is out of order!)

Family Vacation 2011

Well, vacation has come and gone, and we are back home and back in the thick of it! We came home to a very hot house with no air upstairs. Yuck! They say it will take several days to fix it and I think we may all melt by then. It's funny, if I had to think of how to best describe our vacation, it would be the same as this house........hot and sticky!! I don't think we've ever vacationed in August, and while I'm grateful we even got a vacation, I don't know that we'll ever wait until the end of summer to travel again. It was miserably hot in Florida. And our air went out the first night we got there. The irony!!!!!!!! They were quick to fix it, and the boys only had to sleep downstairs one night. Us girls were able to tough it out because of our female, always being cold, disorder :). The sticky refers to seaweed. It was everywhere. So thick that you couldn't even see your feet in the water, and, we learned the hard way that rinsing off doesn't cut it when it comes to seaweed. The kids would take off their suits and seaweed was stuck to their little bottoms. Yuck!!!! But, enough of the stories.....there's always a story with our vacations. This one was relaxing despite the hot and we did get in some great family time swimming and stuff. Oh, Bay lost a tooth the first night we were there, and then on the last night he learned to ride a bike (finally). He was so proud of the bike think because the twins have been riding awhile. Jody and I learned that Addie is actually the best teacher. She was so encouraging and patient teaching him to ride! We met a family from Chattanooga that had 3 boys in high school. Sounds odd that that's who we met, but they had 17 year old twin boys and then their 16 year old boy was like a star athlete in school. Can you guess where I'm going with this???? The pool was 12,000 square feet for the development and they allowed floats, balls, most anything. So, Bay and their 16 year old threw football all over that pool. In the end, several older gentlemen asked for his name so that they could watch for him in the papers in the years to come. Snort! I enjoyed watching the parents interact with their boys and daydreamed about what that might look like for us one day. One lesson I learned......do not give your teenage son $50 and tell him to buy swim trunks. That mom was dying when her son came back with swim trunks that had a repeated picture of a girl in a bikini bottom. I am not kidding. I would die. Anyway, that's about all I can share other than we really enjoyed the time away. It was nice that we were forced to have dinner together every night (vs. eating in between football and gymnastics), and Jody and I both were able to get in some time reading. I must say, I'm not sure what it is about the beach, but I'm just content there. Can't wait to go back!!!!!!!
